Getting Started | Week 1: January 19-22
We will meet by Zoom on Wednesday, January 20, to begin getting oriented to how the course will work. The rest of the week’s activities should be completed by 5 pm on Friday, January 22. Follow the link for your section, below, for more details and links to Zoom and the other activities.
Project 1: Exploring Our Assumptions about Language and Writing (Wks 2-4)
Week 2: January 25-29
We’ll meet Monday in CAR 109 and Wednesday via Zoom for some activities to help us begin generating ideas for P1. We’ll then share initial P1 ideas in a Moodle discussion forum on Friday. Follow the link for your section for details.
Week 3: February 1-5
We’ll meet Monday in CAR 109 and Wednesday via Zoom for more activities to generate ideas for P1. P1 drafts are due Friday. I’ll also offer a brief, optional Zoom session on Friday on how to get started with WordPress. Links below for details.
Week 4: February 8-12
We will not meet together as a group this week so that I can meet with each of you individually to review your P1 draft and consider strengths & needs. If you’ve not already signed up for a conference, select an appointment slot using this linked Google appointments calendar.
Project 2: Reviewing Expert Research about Writing (Wks 5-8)
Week 5: February 15-19
We’ll meet Monday in CAR 109 and Wednesday via Zoom for some activities to get us started on P2. Share initial P2 ideas in a Moodle discussion forum by Friday. Also due Friday is your P1 revision, shared on your portfolio website. Links below for details.
Week 6: February 22-26
We’ll meet Monday in CAR 109 and Wednesday via Zoom for more activities to help with P2. There may be another optional Zoom session on Friday. Links below for details.
Week 7: March 1-5
We’ll meet Monday in CAR 109 for small group peer review of P2 drafts. The rest of the week will be devoted to individual conferences. Written peer responses will be due Wednesday. A midterm feedback survey will be due Friday. Links below for details.
Week 8: March 8-12
We’ll continue individual conferences, as needed (but will NOT meet together as a group on Monday). No class Wednesday. We WILL meet Friday via Zoom to review your feedback and consider any needed changes to the grading contract. P2 revisions, shared on your portfolio website, are due Friday. Links below for details.
Project 3: Analyzing Expert Writing Conventions (Wks 9-12)
Week 9: March 15-19
We’ll meet Monday in CAR 109 and Wednesday via Zoom for some activities to help us get started on P3. Share initial P3 ideas in a Moodle discussion forum by Friday. Links below for details.

Week 11: March 29-April 2
We’ll meet Monday in CAR 109 and Wednesday via Zoom for more activities to help with P3. Anyone who is ready and willing to share a rough/informal presentation about their P3 discoveries could do so this week, in CAR 109 or over Zoom. P3 drafts are due Friday, and P3 peer review groups may meet over Zoom that day, as well. Links below for details.
Week 12: April 5-9
We’ll conference individually on P3 drafts all week. Written peer responses are due Monday. Links below for details.
Project 4: Considering What We’ve Learned (Wks 13-16)
Week 13: April 12-16
We’ll meet Monday in CAR 109 for some activities to help you get started on your final reflection. We’ll share initial ideas in a discussion forum Wednesday. Also, P3 revisions, shared on your portfolio website, are due Friday. Links below for details.
Week 14: April 19-23
We’ll meet Monday in CAR 109 for a final all-group conversation and small group peer review of final reflection drafts. The rest of the week will be devoted to final (individual) conferences, to review your contract record and determine your final grade. Written peer responses are due Wednesday. Weeks 15-16: April 26-May 5
